Sponsored by Boston Prohibitionists, a mock funeral is held for “John Barleycorn” on the eve of the enactment of Prohibition outside the Morgan Memorial Church of All Nations. Elsewhere in the city, local hotels are packed, waiters in restaurants wear black, and empty liquor bottles are placed in coffins.
